Total Facet Arthroplasty System® (TFAS®) is a spinal implant indicated for the treatment of patients with chronic back pain and/or leg pain caused by spinal stenosis. This innovative device offers a potential alternative to rigid spinal fusion. It belongs to a new category of treatments intended to stabilize the affected spinal joints while preserving motion. Clinical trials are now underway to compare the safety and effectiveness of TFAS with spinal fusion surgery in the treatment of moderate to severe degenerative spinal stenosis.
